Edward Lee (Buddy) Cox Jr.

February 11, 1940 ~ February 14, 2019 (age 79)

He was born to Edward Lee Cox, Sr., and Grace Snow Cox, who raised him in the small town of Reidville, South Carolina. He played football for James F. Byrnes High School back in the day. He worked in Laurinburg, North Carolina for 10 years and called Stanley, North Carolina home for the last 30 years. He worked in outside sales in the Electrical, Hoist, and Crane industry for many years and traveled many miles in North and South Carolina. He loved the customers he called upon and would always ask about their families in earnest care. He knew every back-road short cut there was to take and every good restaurant around. He enjoyed camping with his friends and always knew where they were from and what they were having for supper.

He was a lifelong member of Reidville Masonic Lodge 102, having been a member for over 50 years; a long-time member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple; a former member of the Laurinburg Lions Club; and served as Ambassador to the Oasis Shrine Temple as well as a multi-term president of the Scottish Shrine Club.

He is survived by his long-time sweetheart and wife, Carolyn; by his daughter and son in law, Sandra and Buddy Eubanks; by his daughter, Laurie Bostian; by his son and daughter in law, Joel and Elizabeth Cox; by his sister and brother in law Marie and Ben O'dell; by his dearest cousin Carolyn Yeargin; by his grandchildren, Loren, Katlyn, Alex, Jackson, Judge, Eden, Alex, and Layla; and by his great-grandchildren, Landry, Colson, Averie, Lola and Elliot. He is survived also by Michael Crouse, who was like family to him.

The family wishes to thank therapist Kyle Ransom and friends Fred Robinson and Danny Jones for all the help in keeping the home’s warm fires burning.

A celebration of life service will be held at the First Methodist Church in Mount Holly on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 4 pm. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Narthex .
