Randall (Randy) Gary Dyer, age 65, passed away at Novant Presbyterian Hospital on July 19, 2018 surrounded by his family.
Randy was born October 21, 1952 in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up in Charlotte, N.C. where he graduated from Garinger High School. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Denver, N.C. and retired in 2017.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, Frank Dyer, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Cook Dyer and his son, Nicholas (Nick) Dyer of Stanley, N.C. , mother, Ruth Rhodes Dyer and sister, Phyllis Byerly of Wilmington, N.C. and brother, Tony Dyer of Charlotte, N.C.
Randy enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, whether it was simply sitting on the porch with his son listening to music or watching football on Sundays with his brother and friends. He had a passion for the outdoors and loved going camping, fishing, and kayaking. During his life, he also had a love for music that he picked up from his father at a young age. He was more than a father to his son, he was his best friend. Randy will be remembered for his sense of humor and kind heart that made an impact on all of the lives he touched.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Salem United Methodist Church in Denver, N.C. with receiving of friends to immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Randy’s memory can be made to Amber Parker (Amber’s Army) 8036 St. Andrews Lane, Stanley, N. C. 28164. Amber is a friend of the family who is struggling with a serious illness.
