Ronnie Neal McGinnis, 74,
passed peacefully into his next life during his sleep February 9, 2018.
Ronnie was a Leap Year baby born February 29, 1944 to the late Roxanne Pryor and Otis McGinnis in Mount Holly. This year he would have been 18 for the fourth year in a row, making him younger than three of his grandchildren and the same age as one.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years Mary Ann McGinnis, their sons Glenn McGinnis and Grant McGinnis, their sons wives Crystal McGinnis and LaQuita McGinnis; their grandchildren, Candy Miller, Le'quita McGinnis, Johnathin McGinnis and his wife Heather McGinnis, Trinity McGinnis, Roxy McGinnis, Joshua Crouch, Grace McGinnis, and Remington McGinnis, one great granddaughter on the way; and his baby sister Deloris Harwood.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his four brothers ( Bucky McGinnis, James McGinnis, Tony McGinnis and Robert McGinnis) and one of his sisters (Francis Wise).
Ronnie “Duke” McGinnis boxed in the Golden Gloves from 1963-65 earning the title of Golden Gloves Batamweight Champion 1963.
Ronnie worked for Burlington Industries for more than three decades, by the time he retired in 1994 he was their Lead Over-hauler.
Ronnie was the beloved patriarch of the McGinnis family, a devoted husband, a supportive and inspiring father and an adoring grandfather. Ronnie touched many lives in his 74 years of life, making countless people laugh and feel loved and accepted.
He led a full and happy life to be honored and remembered at a celebration of life service at the Lowell Community Center located at 501 W 1st Street Lowell, NC, 28098 on Saturday March 2, 2018 from 2-5. Join us as we share of some of his favorite foods, our favorite “Ronnie stories” and most importantly laughter…. Ronnie sure loved to laugh.
